Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. As treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. This means they need more than medical help, they also need practical, emotional and financial support. 

Solution

BOCC worked with the team at Macmillan to draw up the most appropriate hosting solution package to meet with their long-term needs. BOCC already hosted the 'We are Macmillan' web site comprising of 1 x 2U web server and 1 x 1U disk
array. Macmillan needed web server col-location hosting options for hosting a number of other sites such as 'Cancer
Backup' (recently merged with Macmillan) and 'What Now'.

BOCC successfully demonstrated to Macmillan our knowledge and expertise to provide a resiliant and stable hosting environment to house their family of website and servers at our co-location data centre in Oxford.

Hosting contract

The scope of the hosting contract includes:

• Dedicated managed multiple web server hosting accounts;
• Remote secure access via VPN;
• Daily networked backups;
• Guaranteed and burstable bandwidth provision;
• Dedicated rack storage space;
• Service level guarantee of 99.5% minimum availability for bandwidth, power and all related
  services to the hosting rack;
• 24x7x365 monitoring of key server processes and alerting;
• Domain name management;
• SSL secure server certificate.
