Background

The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) is an international trade union federation of transport workers' unions. Membership of the ITF includes 654 unions representing 4,500,000 transport workers in 148 countries worldwide.

The website is facilitated by a customised version of BOCC's content management system (CMS), tailored to the ITF's requirements. The CMS features multilingual internet, secure extranet and microsites. Working closely with both the Web and IT teams at the ITF, BOCC produced and created the technical specification, visual design, information architecture / structure and functional modules for the Unions new website. 

Features of the site include:

• Complete fully multilingual sites, including facility to upload and request translations for content;
• Interactive Document Library, Campaigns News and Press Releases modules;

• News Online RSS News Feeds;
• Integration with the ITF ‘CORE’ membership database;
• Various regional and event microsites, such as ITF Americas, ITF Seafarers and 41st Congress;
• Ability to sign up to ‘My ITF’ News Online and email alerts;
• Specific ‘Campaigns’ module, incorporating a solidarity letter option;
• Online version of the quarterly magazine ‘Transport International’;
• Blogs for the secure extranet sites and Seafarers Microsite;
• Multilingual discussion forums.
