NHS Employers (NHSE) wanted to re-develop their website to ensure that they are recognised as an example of best practice and become the national resource on NHS workforce issues.
In order to meet these aims NHSE wanted to promote their work and provide information to a more general audience through a new corporate website. NHSE also developed a Knowledge Base to promote knowledge sharing and collaborative working.
NHS Employers(1) is the employers' organisation for the NHS in England, giving employers an independent voice on workforce matters and aims is to make the NHS an employer of excellence. NHS Confederation(2) brings together all the organisations that make up the NHS across the UK and helps to deliver better health and healthcare.

BOCC worked with the web team at NHSE to develop an integrated solution, which included a content management system(3) for the NHS Employers website, that will also deliver content in the future to the NHS Confederation website.
BOCC successfully demonstrated to NHSE our ability to provide web-browser based services and existing integrated secure systems. In particular, BOCC's comprehensive knowledge of networking and the Internet provided for an integrated response from a single vendor.
A key aspect of the project was to link seamlessly with the existing members management system for:
The administration system uses the NHSE Active Directory for seamless CMS authentication and authorisation to certain tasks as publishers access the system using their logged in workstation. Contact details displayed on the web site are published from details held within the Active Directory for simplified access.

NHSE are now able to devolve the publishing of content easily to designated content editors. Therefore ensuring that content is kept up-to-date and relevant. The ability for the CMS to integrate with existing back-office systems has meant that data doesn't have to be duplicated in a number of places. Providing secure access to specific documents has also meant that authorised staff can now view information from the website easily and securely.
