Partners Extranet Discussion Forums Case Study - Making Local Food Work

Overview

'Making Local Food Work' - community enterprise connecting land and people through food, is a Big Lottery funded initiative managed by the Plunkett Foundation. The five year partnership programme is aimed at reconnecting people and land through issues of food: access to fresh, healthy, local food and food that has a clear provenance.

Objectives

BOCC developed a community portal website that enabled everyone involved in the initiative from consumers, producers and partners to share and communicate online. In addition to this portal website the initiative Partners required a discussion forums area to enable them to share ideas and communicate online about the programme.

Solution

BOCC discussed the options for the use of discussion forums across the whole of the Making Local Food Work (MLFW) programme online. BOCC suggested implementing a discussion forums solution that would enable everyone who was a part of the initiative to be able to communicate online. Each stakeholder, whether a partner, consumer or trader would therefore be able to take part in their own discussions.

BOCC configured FuseTalk for use within the community portal powered by YouDu CMS.  The solution seamlessly integrates with the content management system and specifically enables MLFW to set-up different forums for different areas of the website. Therefore, discussions could be set-up within microsites and also secure extranet sites, such as the Partners area.
