Launch of New TUC Tutors Website

'TUC Tutors' is the new online community for UK trade union education practitioners from unionlearn with TUC Education.

BOCC worked with unionlearn to develop the new website with the main aim of encouraging TUC tutors to actively use the site on a more regular basis.

TUC tutors run a range of courses from a number of designated learning centres throughout the UK for union members. Commonly the same course is run in each learning centre and therefore each centre can share the same classroom resources. The secure new website includes a structured way of finding these resources via the new 'Course Materials and Resources' section, so that the need for duplication is reduced.

The new 'Course Development Lab' also enables tutors to work with other TUC tutors and the TUC Education Team to create new resources.

One of the other main requirements for the new site was to seamlessly integrate with the existing discussion forum - 'Eve' that is driven by a third party provider.

Oil and Gas UK Website Rebranding

Oil and Gas UK is the new representative body for all companies active in the UK offshore oil and gas industry. The new organisation is built on the foundations of the UK Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA).

As part of the creation of this new organisation, BOCC was asked to update the existing UKOOA website developed by BOCC. BOCC undertook the visual redesign exercise, based upon the organisations new branding and style guidelines.

BOCC created initial visual design concepts for the new website, incorporating the new logo, graphics and colour schemes. The concepts included overviews of the new home page, main landing and sub-level pages for revision.

The Oil and Gas UK website content and main features, also developed by BOCC, remained unchanged, since only the visual design of the website was upgraded. These features include:

• Online publications and payments system
• Email alerts for latest news and features
• Email newsletter subscriptions
• Searchable press photographs library

A2 Housing Group Plasma Display

BOCC has recently designed and installed a new plasma screen display for the reception area of A2 Housing Groups' Head Office in Staines. A2 asked BOCC to create a contemporary and professional display, that reflected the design of their new range of posters.

A subtle approach to the overall design and animation was required. The display features a number of changing areas, such as job vacancies and available properties and one of the main requirements was to enable the updating of these sections in house by A2 staff.

The display was developed in such a way so that it didn't require any major redesign work to enable these updates.

BOCC worked with A2 to further develop the storyboard for the display and animation options that would work well to achieve the overall aim of the plasma. BOCC developed the display using a combination of Adobe Flash and ColdFusion MX technologies.

Additional Online Payment Services

Oxford City Council has added two further Council services to the existing online payments system originally developed by BOCC over three years ago.

It is now possible to pay for Housing Benefit Overpayments and Park and Ride Season Tickets online. These two new payment streams join the existing online services that Oxford City Council already provide, including:

• Council Tax
• Business rates (NNDR)
• Council housing rent
• Parking fines
• Planning applications

BOCC worked with the Councils's staff to ensure that the data from back-office systems could be imported correctly and that the daily transactions could be returned into the cash system.
