Online Journal Submissions
An electronic publications system has been developed and launched for the Royal Society by BOCC.
The system is used by authors to submit papers to selected journals. Referees, assigned using a new back-office system, can undertake peer-review commenting on the papers. The journal editors liaise with staff to provide decisions on the papers and progress these through to final file submission and proof review.
The system, delivered through an accessible standards-compliant web browser interface, has been created to be:
- platform independent;
- quick to download;
- quick to render; and
- browser independent.
The system can be integrated with legacy systems.

Northern Ireland Advice
Following the development of the bespoke content management system (CMS) for Shelter, the homelessness charity, the Northern Ireland specific area has been launched.
Northern Ireland information uses the same BOCC CMS as the main Shelter sites but is branded differently through the clever use of dynamically assigned skins and style sheets. The pages, designed by Shelter, use the bespoke LAMS compliant Advice Services Directory CMS module and have access to all the other rich functionality supplied by BOCC.
Shelter can redesign the website by replacing skins on the fly to change the look and feel across whole sections of the site quickly and easily.

Virtual Private Network
BOCC have assisted with the specification, setup, configuration and testing of a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN). The VPN was required to facilitate replication of critical files between back-office systems and the organisation's remotely hosted web servers.
Since going live with the file replication, the VPN has also been used to provide remote access to tables in the database powering the Content Managed websites. This provides direct access to information as users interact with the websites.
Technical services: provided by BOCC.
