Trades Union Congress
BOCC has successfully completed on time a complete redesign of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) website. The focus of the redesign was to:
- build on user feedback;
- provide a more contemporary look;
- demonstrate the wealth of site content;
- improve navigation; and
- highlight related information more easily.
BOCC created the back end system for content management in 2001 and it is good to see this joined by a BOCC design. The content management system was not changed since it continues to meet the TUC's the needs.

RSS News Feed
A Really Simple Syndication (RSS) news feed has been created for the Trades Union Congress (TUC) website.
The site is updated with 7-10 press releases issues each week and the TUC wanted to deliver their content through as many channels as possible. A complex email alert system developed by BOCC was already in place.
RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites and increasing being utilised by Internet users to keep up-to-date with relevant news through the use of aggregation software. Portal websites sometimes also make use of RSS feeds to gather content.
BOCC's own demonstration news feeds are available on the home page.

Royal Society Publications
An electronic publications system has been fully completed by BOCC for the Royal Society, the UK's national academy of science.
The system is used by authors to submit papers to selected journals. Referees, assigned using a new back-office system, can undertake peer-review commenting on the papers. The journal editors liaise with staff to provide decisions on the papers and progress these through to final file submission and proof review.
The system, completely designed and implemented by BOCC, has been integrated with legacy and more recent Internet-enabled back office systems.
External servers hosted by BOCC.
