Mental Health Unit

NACRO, the UK's leading criminal justice charity, appointed BOCC to develop a new Mental Health Unit microsite. The Mental Health Unit provides a range of development, information and consultancy services to individuals and the various agencies that have dealings with mentally disordered offenders across the criminal justice, health and social care sectors.

The new microsite has been designed and developed by BOCC and includes information resources for these services and to provide an interactive support discussion forums and resources area.

The site is maintained by NACRO directly, using Macromedia Contribute publishing systems and templates created by BOCC.

Website and Intranet Consultancy

Another local council has approached BOCC to undertake a review of their static website and assist with the creation of a technical specification for a new dynamic website which will meet the government's 2005 priority outcomes.

The district council had already begun a review of the requirements and undertook discussions and workshops with sections within the organisation. BOCC helped draw the various strands together and wrote a specification which would provide a content managed feature-rich website to be best of breed. A key requirement was back-office integration and to consider the long term development of the site, such as future re-branding, design changes and flexibility in publishing information and interacting with residents, businesses and tourists.

The specification was used to determine budget costs for the project.

xHTML Compliance

BOCC has developed a number of integrated extranets, public websites and syndication systems for The Trading Standards Institute (TSI). The systems are fully integrated with the existing back office document and membership databases and management is undertaken using a comprehensive web-based interface.

Much of the content is drawn from a replicated back-office database over a secure virtual private network (VPN). In order to syndicate content to other websites, there was a need to ensure that the document content was delivered as valid extensible hypertext markup language (xHTML) code.

BOCC worked with TSI to test and modify the dynamic sites to ensure compliance.

Multilingual CMS

BOCC have designed, developed and deployed a dynamic multilingual website for the London-based International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF).

The content management system (CMS) was created by BOCC, based on our standard CMS, to meet exacting requirements of the ITF and link in with other back-office systems. Content can be added and managed in English, French, German, Spanish, Swedish, Russian, Japanese and Arabic. The website front end then delivers this content in the user's preferred language.
