Ultraseek

BOCC has configured and implemented the Ultraseek search engine to the intranet for children's charity NCH. BOCC also redesigned the KBroker screens used for staff access to the new search.

The increased number of documents on the intranet had meant that the in-built search was not performing well enough and NCH had identified Ultraseek as their preferred alternative. BOCC customised Ultraseek to fit in with NCH's particular requirements and the technologies used on the staff intranet and associated internal systems.

BOCC has extensive experience of website search development, deployment, monitoring and analysis using bespoke systems or customisation of 'packaged' solutions like Verity, Index Server and Google as well as Ultraseek.

Arab World CMS

BOCC has created an Arab World microsite for the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF). This also required the addition of Arabic as one of the websites' core languages.

The ITF launched its new dynamic website, designed, developed and deployed by BOCC, in February.

The content management system (CMS) was created by BOCC to meet the exacting requirements of the ITF and link in with other back-office systems. Content can be added and managed in the core, fully functional languages of English, French, German, Spanish, Swedish, Portuguese and now Arabic. Other content can also be added in Chinese, Dutch, Indonesian, Italian, Polish, Tagalog and Turkish. The website front end then delivers this content in the user's preferred language and character set including text direction.

Planning Portal

BOCC's online payments system, has successfully been integrated with the Planning Portal, the resource for planning information and services set up by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM).

The new module, used by local councils, commercial organisations and professional bodies alike, can be called from third party applications allowing payments to be integrated into the Planning Portal system. This provides a seamless experience for people making planning applications and payments.

The payments system offers:

• payment reporting and tracking
• optional special modules, e.g. council tax, sundry debtors

Googled?

BOCC has provided hosting and configuration services to the London Borough of Camden for a new website application.

Camden now has more websites and the amount of content has increased. Therefore the Council decided to enhance the searching options and speed through the purchase of a Google appliance. The server is hosted by BOCC along with the other servers, and is also connected to Camden's own network through a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
