Union Learning Fund
BOCC bid for, and was subsequently asked to develop a new interface design for the Union Learning Fund (ULF) grant application system, grant management system and website.
The new design was required due to the rebranding undertaken by the Learning and Skills Council, who jointly fund the ULF with the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and the Department for Education and Skills. The design process involved developing style guides and mock screens. The design was discussed, developed and amended after discussions with test user groups before an implementation plan was created. An important aspect was to ensure that all existing and pending data were unaffected by the change to design across all the systems. Users also had expectations that screen arrangements would not change significantly.
BOCC configuration management ensured that the software and website systems were migrated to the new design without any user downtime.
The systems were developed and are hosted by BOCC.

Office to Web
BOCC has extended the successful Word to Web Page converter to cater for WAI Triple A (AAA) accessibility.
The modifications now ensure that ALT text flows through from images embedded in the source document or can be edited, tables are provided with summaries and header rows and the generated code is XHTML 1 compliant. The converter uses a module developed by BOCC where administrators upload a word processing document and the server creates:
- single web page, with or without contents list
- paginated web pages
- Adobe portable document format (PDF) version
The method has been in use successfully on the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Shelter and Oxford City Council websites developed by BOCC.
Websites and databases hosted by BOCC.
