BOCC Helping to Make Local Food Work

BOCC is very excited to be working with the Plunkett Foundation as part of a Big Lottery Fund funded project called 'Making Local Food Work' - community enterprise connecting land and people through food.
'Making Local Food Work' is a 5 year programme aimed at reconnecting people and land through issues of food: access to fresh, healthy, local food and food that has a clear provenance. The portfolio will use social and community enterprise approaches to link communities and producers and develop collaborative approaches to meeting the needs of their communities in accessing local food.
The programme will be managed by the Plunkett Foundation as the leader of a partnership comprising Co-operatives UK, the Soil Association, Sustain (and Foodlinks UK), CPRE, FARMA and Country Markets.
BOCC has been appointed to carry out the web development and visual design of the new Portal website for the Programme. This will include the provision of the YouDu CMS 2007, the development of secure Producer and Partner Extranet sites, provision of a data management system and knowledge base, as well as dedicated web server hosting.

'Look-up NCH' Intranet Site Enhancements

NCH recently asked BOCC to undertake a number of enhancements to the 'Look-Up NCH' Intranet site, which have now gone live.
BOCC developed the original Intranet site for NCH over 3 years ago, utilising BOCC's CMS and integrating legacy back-office project and staff directory systems. The site has evolved since then and undergone not only visual design rebranding exercise, but also accommodated for a number of updates and enhancements over time.
New features that have recently been incorporated include:
- Quick polls to enable instant feedback and voting in realtime on hot topics
- Further dynamic / automatic features on the home page for 'New & Updated' and 'News & Event' items
- New discussion forums package to include 'Report a Post' and 'Guide' functionality
BOCC undertook systems analysis, specification, project management, informational and systems design, development, testing and off-site installation.

Hosting Services for Young Enterprise

BOCC has been appointed by Young Enterprise - the UK's leading business and enterprise education charity to host their production server at BOCC's datacentre in Oxford.
Young Enterprise provide a range of online resources to their clients in the education sector. BOCC offered Young Enterprise a solution to their hosting needs, to enable the continued hosting of these resources across three dedicated web servers.
The following standard services have been provided as part of the hosting agreement:
- Daily networked storage array back-ups, copied weekly to LTO media stored off site
- Guaranteed bandwidth allowance
- 24 hour a day / 7 day a week monitoring of all key server processes
- Provision of online report for uptime monitoring via the BOCC Helpdesk facility
- Online visitor web statistics reports provided by Urchin
- Protected power supply with onsite diesel generator
- Environmentally controlled data centre

Oxford City Council Enhance Online Services

|
BOCC has recently completed a series of enhancements to the online services offered by the Oxford City Council website. Users of the website are now able to pay for a number of new services via the existing 'Ox-Online - Pay It' facility.
It is now possible for users when completing online applications forms for the following services, to also pay for these online using the existing payments system, originally developed by BOCC. New services include:
- Drainage clearance
- Recycling container requests
- Request for a recycling wheelie bin
- Business and trade waste sales
- Voluntary surrender of vehicle
The Oxford City website, redeveloped by BOCC last year, is part of the Council's ongoing improvement in standards and e-services delivery.
