BOCC strives to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct and corporate social responsibility. We regularly review our Company policies and standards and we are always looking to introduce ways to improve our overall working, travel and business practices.

How BOCC is working smarter

We realise that it’s important for any business to be working smarter. In an increasingly complex world employers and employees have to strive to use their resources effectively; one to gain better productivity, the other to balance work-life pressures. BOCC has already adopted a number of smarter working practices to achieve this aim.

  • We offer flexitime to our staff, enabling them to work the hours that suit them.
  • We provide the necessary infrastructure to enable our staff to work from home remotely. This helps cut down on the frustrating commute to the office in the rush hour and makes it a much less stressful part of the day.
  • We have technologies in place, such as Voice Over IP (VOIP), secure remote office access, Broadband provision, company mobile phones and remote meeting capabilities, which all make our lives easier in and away from the office.
  • Since technology is not restrictive, it enables us to also offer our staff the ability to work from anywhere in the UK as well as the Rest of the World. This means that we can support regions and rural communities, where employment opportunities are difficult to find.

Addressing environmental issues

BOCC is very keen to reduce the overall environmental impact we make as a Company. We take measures in many areas to achieve this aim

One such example is by reducing the number of physical journeys we carry out. Up to August 2008 we have increased our Public transport usage by 165% and reduced our car mileage expenses by almost 30%.

 

 

In order to further our environmental aims, we make communication with our clients more efficient by offering remote meetings using the remote collaboration solution - GoToMeeting by Citrix Online. Our goal in providing this additional method of communication is to provide an even more responsive service by cutting down on journey times and being available for urgent meetings.

We ensure that we follow the European WEEE Directive in the disposal of any electrical equipment and recycle or reuse items wherever possible.

Supporting our local community

At BOCC we feel it's very important to contribute to and support our local community. We demonstrate this in a number of ways, for example BOCC sponsors prizes at Oxford Brookes University; we take on student workplaces over the Summer; and we donate web design and hosting services to Sobell House Hospice Charity.

Charitable donations and free-of-charge services

We also undertake a number of other supportive activities such as charitable donations and free of charge services to a number of groups and organisations, which you can take a look at for yourself.
